    3. Richard, Thanks for your e-mail. I believe that the John Forrest who married the Lyhua/Lydia Carpenter is my John Forrest. I know he married a Rosina/Rosana who is a dau of Jeremiah (no marriage record, though) so either he married two Carpenter women or Lyhua/Lydia is actually Rosina. Thanks again and good luck. 3. Hi Penny, I doubt if this was intended for you. Many who join lists do not keep their "welcome message" as suggested and when it comes time to unsubscribe they forget that to subscribe and unsubscribe that they need to add the "-request" in the list address for the command to function properly on RootsWeb lists. Those of us on many lists see this happen quite often. I hope that they did not unsubscribe Adrianne with the way this was sent. :-) Les Shockey At 09:13 AM 8/29/99 -0400, you wrote: >Hi, > >The message below confuses me!! 3. Dear List members, I have hit a brick wall on my FOREST/FORREST family. JAMES FOREST/FORREST married MAZIE GORDON in Botetourt Co VA in 1805. (I believe Mazie was the daughter of GILES GORDON). This James Forest/Forrest next shows up in Gallia/Meigs Co OH circa 1807. The only other mention I've found for a James Forest/Forrest is a 1800 Botetourt Co VA tax list - upper district- for one male and one horse and I don't know if this is my James for sure. James' father was a JOHN FOREST/FORREST who was married at least twice (maybe three times). His last wife was ROSANA/ROSINA CARPENTER, daughter of JEREMIAH CARPENTER. . Since my John and James seemed to have moved to OH at the same time and together maybe they were both in Botetourt Co. Family info give birthplaces for this Forest family as VA, PA, and NJ!!! Could I ask list members to check their data for any mention of FOREST, FORREST, GORDON, CARPENTER? Any clues or hints would be greatly appreciated and I would try to reciprocate in some way. Thank you for your attention. PENNY [email protected]

    1. [WVA] William P. Davis, Virginia
    2. Dear Listers: I have found more information out on my second Davis line. It is as follows: William P. Davis was born around 1817. He married a Sarah ???. Marriage date unknown. They had two children that I know of: James Henry Davis and Anna Elizabeth Davis, born March 1860 (per 1900 census). William P. died December 31, 1895 in Hampshire Co., WVa. His wife, Sarah, died September 17, 1895, also in Hampshire Co., WVa. Both are buried at the Indian Mound Cemetery in Romney, WVa but have no headstones. Anna Elizabeth Davis married John Luther Carder (who later took the last name of his Uncle, John Robinson) on April 8, 1879 in Hampshire Co., WVa. They had the following children: William Robinson (b. April 03, 1880); Isaac Robinson (b. 1885); Vance Robinson (b. 1887); Lee Robinson (b. 1891); Jas. E. Robinson (b. March 1892); Nancy A. Robinson (b. 1893); Clarence Robinson (b. 1896); and Margaret Virginia Robinson (b. May 11, 1898). Does anyone know more about William P. and his wife, Sarah? Or anything more on James Henry and Anna Elizabeth? I do have the line of Margaret Virginia Robinson and am willing to share that with anyone who connects. Tina

    3. Good Morning, There are several sites where the SSDI is located. I use this one: http://ancestry.com/ Select under Getting Started Free Guest Benefits. After you get that screen, look under Search and the SSDI will be the 3rd or so thing down. You can search by state. Don't forget, this is not a complete list! Only those deceased persons who drew benefits are listed here (If someone told the administration that the deceased had in fact died). Let me know if you have a problem Ron Mitchell -----Original Message----- From: marlem <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, August 27, 1999 9:49 AM Subject: Re: [WVA] social security number >Could anyone refer me to the site where Social security numbers are listed >by the state they were issued. >thanks. > [email protected] > >----- Original Message ----- >From: Ron <[email protected]> >To: <[email protected]> >Sent: Friday, August 27, 1999 9:23 AM >Subject: Re: [WVA] social security number > > >> Hi Joan, >> I haven't finished my email but I'll jump in on your question. >Firstly >> to 'qualify' for the list, you must have drawn benefits at some time from >> SS. 1. Re: [WVA] social security number
    2. Joan, There could be several reasons for this. My father isn't listed either and that is because he worked for the railroad and received his pension from them. Also, if when the person you are looking for died and his survivor did not file for the social security death benefit then social security would have no record of them. In my case, my father was under the Soc. sec. system when he was younger but after he went to work for the railroad, he was under their pension plan and was not included under the Soc. sec. plan. And my mother didn't file for the death benefit because she forgot to. Pat in Va.

    3. Not all Social Security Card holders are listed on the SSDI. If no one notified the SSA that the person was dead, they do not know it. My wife's mother is not listed, and she died 25 years ago. THE COST IS 10.50 PLUS POSTAGE I BELIEVE (IF I AM WRONG, SOMEONE PLEASE BE SO KIND AS TO CORRECT ME AND POST THE INFO TO THE LIST) THE OTHER BOOK THAT I POSTED ABOUT WAS A COLLABORATION THAT I MADE MYSELF AND I OFFERED A COPY TO ONE PARTY THAT I KNOW DOES MUCH IN THE GENEALOGICAL COMMUNITY AND KNOW THAT SHE WOULD BE ASSISTING OTHERS WITH THAT INFORMATION. I AM NOT SELLING COPIES OF WHAT I HAVE MADE. MY GOAL IS FREE GENEALOGY FOR THE MASSES AND THAT IS WHY I AM PUTTING EVERY BIT OF INFORMATION ON LINE. Hi Neva No, this is one I put together for myself alone through the films at the lds library... they had a wonderful index and it cost about 50 bucks to make all the copies but it was worth it. There is no copyright restriction, I would be glad to make you a copy for the cost of copying.... but this is only an offer open to you as we have had a pretty good working relationship in the past and i dont mind doing one ...just dont want an influx. however, once you have yours, distribute to whomever.
