Hi Everyone: I have a Richard Pennington born abt. 1745 and he married Eleanor Prichard. They settled in Pendleton Co.,(W) Va abt. 1765/1770. They had the following children Richard b. 1770, Priscilla b. 1772, Barbara b. 1775, Palcy, and John b. 1777. I'm looking for help in the right direction or information on Richard Pennington's parents and/or Eleanor Pritchard's parents. It has been suggested that Richard Pennington is from the Cecil Co. Md area, and then another suggestion that Richard and Eleanor were in South Carolina about 1768 and that is the same year, Palcy (Mary?) Pennington was born. Can someone help? Trying to knock down this brick wall. Thanks Debbie
Lucretia: Thank you very much for what you're doing. I too am sick and tired of people's constant sniping at each other on these lists. Janet

Hi. I'm new to this list and I don't have much to go on with my ancestor. But here goes--my ancestor is named Henry Jacob TILLMAN. He was born on November 22, 1805 in W. Virginia. He married Elizabeth THOMAS on November 17, 1825 in Harper Ferry, Jefferson Co. W. Virginia. They had 2 children born in W. Virigina before they moved on to Madison Co. Ohio around 1834. I would really like to find our who Henry's parents were and where exactly in W. Virginia he was born. If anyone has any information on Henry TILLMAN please contact me. Thanks. Jean
9/8/1779 Met according to appointment on Saturday the 18th of September and proceeded to business. First agreed by the voice of the church that Brother Jacob Vanmetre take his seat in the house of God as formerly. Agreed by voice of the majority of the Church that Brother Alexander Briant/Bryant to be under censure for his not complying with the request of the Church. We gave unto our beloved Brother Jacob Vanmetre, John Garard, John Ventrees, John Eastwood, Joseph Eastwood, John Gated, Isaac Dye, David Henton, Abraham Vanmetre, Jacob Vanmetre Junior, Rebecca Vantrees, Letitia Vanmetre, Hannah Dye, Mary Underwood, Mary Henton, Bambo and Dinah letters of dismission according to their request. We gave unto our beloved Brethren John Corbly and Elizabeth Corbly, his wife, Hannah Eastwood letters of dismission agreeable to their request. This Jacob and family & friends then went by flatboats down the Ohio and eventually on to what became Hardin County, KY. Does the name Ventrees (Vertrees) ring bells for anyone? I am wondering if perhaps that was later confused as Vanmeter. Mike Judd

My BUTLER Family. Could someone help?? My Great-grandfathers name was: William Mathew BUTLER Born - March 3, 1885 - Calhoun County, West Virginia Died - September 28, 1976 - Richwood or Wood County, West Virginia His parents names were: John B. HE MARRIED : (May 13, 1876 - Roane County, West Virginia) Margaret Naomi MAY Born - February 22, 1858 Calhoun County, West Virginia Died - February 10, 1925 ? We do have some family information listing that "Dovotha" as John B. Butler mother. And at one time Dovotha was married to Isaac FLENNER. (2nd marriage?) John B. BUTLER is my brick wall. Several wonderful people on different News Groups have discovered new information that I am almost positive must connect to my family. "Who John B. Butler's parents were is still in question." My cousins and I have not been able to positively answer this question. Here is where I ask for help. I will post the information that was sent to me below. I appreciate any help anyone could offer. We have become a little frustrated trying to put 2 and 2 together. A fresh outlook or opinion could be the answer. The county for Wellsburg is Brooke. The county seat is Wellsburg. I believe records run about $3.00-$5.00 dollars. You would need to write to the clerk of courts for a marriage record. Joyce Fluharty
Hi, I'm looking for information on a Dr. Francis COOPER from the History of Roane County by Bishop. He was a medical doctor who rode the circuit, apparently. Time frame, 1880-1890s? He had a daughter, Kista Metta Cooper. I'd like to know more about her birthplace, her mother, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Maureen
