Jack Powell >> Jack, West Virginia didn't become a state until 1865, after the Civil War, so I had to check the Virginia 1850 census. There were no BOYCE families in Harrison or Dodrridge Co. There were 3 BOYCE families in Marion county, but none of them had a daughter Lavina. The closest I found was a 7 yr. old Lucinda in the home of John and Mary BOYCE. There were also BOYCE families in Augusta, Barbour, Bedford, Berkeley, Brooke, Jefferson, Ohio and Rockingham counties. I'm sorry I couldn't find her, Marilyn
