    1. Re: [WVCEN] 1920/?Putnam/COULTER
    2. Colter's were living in the Buffalo area of Putnam Co as far back as 1859 that I know of. Priscella Coulter age 18 b. Monroe Co. Ohio d/o William & Anne Coulter wed Feb. 3, 1859 James Harrison age 22 b. Mason Co. s/o Josiah C. & Frances Harrison David W. Coulter age 23 b. Monroe Co. Ohio wed Sept 29, 1881 Mary S. Persinger age 24 b. Allegheny Co. VA (ref. Putnam Co Marriages 1848 - 1882) David W. Coulter is treasurer of the Dunlap Chapel Church on 18 Mile Creek in Oct. of 1877. (ref. Putnam Co. History Vol II) William & Anne Coulter are in the 1880 Putnam Co Census with a grandaughter. Mary V. Harrison age 20. Eighteen Mile Creek Road ends near Buffalo. It begins near Liberty, not far from the Jackson Co. line. Named Eighteen Mile Creek not because of it's length (which by the way is over 18 miles) but because it is located 18 miles from the mouth of the Kanawha River where it meets the Ohio. So it is not a small area that the census taker may have missed, although he could have missed one of the hollows that branch off of the Eighteen.
