hi Thanks for the comeback!! I was mainly writing for the 1910 census - because I received info that William Vannoy died in Calhoun Co in 1915 so I thought if I could find him on a census for that area it might help me with more info on him. All I have is a birth year and death year - no months or days. But - if you have Gilmer Co info, maybe you can help me to. You see I know this family lived in Gilmer Co. They were found on the 1860/1870 census for Gilmer Co. I had that he also died in Gilmer Co - c 1925. But I have never been able to find anything on his death - a full date, cemetery records, obit, death record - nothing! Sooooo - after I received information that he died in Calhoun Co. - I figured THAT'S why I can't find any info in Gilmer Co. Going by the census up to 1870 - it shows he was in Gilmer Co, but he may have moved to Calhoun Co after that? I know his son James William lived on a farm in Gilmer Co. He was only 15 in the 1870 census, and I know he lived there after that, because he was my father's grandfather, and my Dad used to talk about going to visit his grandpa Jim, and descibed the farm to me - in Gilmer Co! And the info I have on James is he died in Gilmore Co - see below. Here is more information on this family so maybe you will be able to check some records and help me! William Sanford b: 1829 Gilmore Co, d: 1915 Gilmore Co or Calhoun Co m: Nancy Gainer 10/19/1854 Gilmer Co son: James William b: 7/20/1855 Gilmore Co d: 4/12/1938 Gilmore Co m: Sara Artemitia Kight Also show the census they showed up in for 1860 and 1870 was for Dekalb District of Gilmore Co. Don't know where that is?? Also show the person beleived to be William's father Benjamin was reported as living at Job's Run. And the area where William lived is referred to as Vannoy Ridge, and according to one report was also known as Bryan Gainer Farm? Do you know anything about these areas - see I also don't know exactly WHERE in Gilmore Co they lived. The following areas is all I've ever heard of in connection to this family Do you know where these areas are in Gilmer Co? Do you know what cemeteries might be in that area that I could try to find records thru cemetery? I was sent a copy of part of a book about that area that has info on Francis Vannoy but that was about all. The book - I beleive was written by an Eller. Nothing was even mentioned about William or his son James. If I could find a birth/death records on especially William, maybe it would open up some new avenues of info on this family!! ANY information you could help with would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! Thanks so very much! ....Pam >From: "Bridgett" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [WVCEN] Calhoun/1910/Vannoy >Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 10:49:14 -0400 > >Pam, Is this Gilmer County?
