I received information last week from kind Jane Lesner on this family for the 1870 census. I also have the 1880 information and 1860. NOW I wonder if I can find them in an ealier census. Is there such a thing as an 1850 in Ohio County? Would I have to go to Virginia? I would love to know if they were in the US at that time or still in Ireland. Does anyone have access to any census before 1860, or between 1860 and 1880, that could help to nail down this family, especially where the children were born? 1880 census shows: James b.c. 1830 Ireland & Sarah McNamara b.c.1832 Ire (aka Jimmy & Sarah Mack) According to the 1880 census all children born in WV: Mary Vincent b. 1855 John b.1856 Delia b.1861 (Joseph) James b.1864 Child Catherine McNamara is a nun, out of the house by 1880, in PA. In the 1860 census, she is listed as Kate b. 1852 (the eldest child) but in various convent records, she is listed as born in 1858 in Baltimore MD. I am so hoping that another census will confirm that at least the older children were also born in Maryland, or were they in fact all born in WV and the convent records are incorrect? Thank you!
