Hi Jack, This Lovina "Boyce" appears to be a different one than in the 1860 VA, possibly the daughter of Lavina and James listed in the 1860 as Melvina (age 18)??? Jack Powell >> Jack, West Virginia didn't become a state until 1865, after the Civil War, so I had to check the Virginia 1850 census. There were no BOYCE families in Harrison or Dodrridge Co. There were 3 BOYCE families in Marion county, but none of them had a daughter Lavina. The closest I found was a 7 yr. old Lucinda in the home of John and Mary BOYCE. There were also BOYCE families in Augusta, Barbour, Bedford, Berkeley, Brooke, Jefferson, Ohio and Rockingham counties. I'm sorry I couldn't find her, Marilyn

Sherwood (she could be listed as "Bashie") I knnow Joseph Sherwood is dead by 1901 because Basha Sherwood married H.L. Burton in 1901 Doddridge Co. Could you look for her in 1910 Doddridge Co.
