Will someone please help me find my great grand-uncle in the 1930 WV Census? Thomas COSNER would be around 67 and may be in Gilmer or Lewis County. Thomas Cosner was born July 1863. He married Lucy Jane Curtis. She was born 12 July 1870, and died 10 June 1929. So she would not show up on the census. Children of Lucy Curtis and Thomas Cosner are: i. Virgil Cosner, born 02 April 1920; died June 1969. ii. Brooks Cosner. (Unknown dates) I am hoping Virgil COSNER will show up on a search to help locate this family. I don't think it's a common name. I didn't realize they were in Gilmer County. I had a family member tell me last night that he thought Melvin's family moved to Ohio at some point. Maybe they show up in the Ohio Census with just an initial for the first name. The ages on the Gilmer County 1920 census were: Melvin 39, Mary 36, Dale 11, Ruth 7, George 6, Gilbert 4 1/2, Paul 2 yrs 8 mo, Susan 1 yr 2 mo. Don't know if any of those ages translate over into the 1930 WV Census. I don't have a death date for Melvin, so he may not be living during 1930 census. The other possibilities I could be an initial was used for the WV census or they had moved on to Ohio. Thanks for your help on my behalf. Billy

There are several Mary J.s, and some Ruths and Georges, but the father's names are not Melvin or anything close. With ages, we might be able to figure out which of the Woofters he might be. Pollee, I found two possible results: The only Emma Slider listed in the index is 18 yrs. old, living in Wetzel Co. with a Wesley & Emma Vandyne and working as a servant. There is an Emma E. Reynolds age 12, living with a Joseph & Arvana Slider in Calhoun Co. and she's Joseph's step-daughter. Could that be her?
