John Wright of Winchester (Winsted), Litchfield co., CT and Alpha had come to Tallmadge County, OH in 1802 with his parents and three brothers. The ancestry of Capt. John Wright (1743 - 1825) of Winsted, CT is fairly well understood back to the origins of the male line in England. Capt. John Wright was a descendant of Thomas Wright of Wethersfield, CT (1610 England, 1670 Wethersfield, CT) through Thomas' son, Joseph Wright (1639 - 1714). Thomas Wright was a 3rd cousin to Deacon Samuel Wright of nearby Springfield & Northampton, MA, and therefore Capt. John Wright was a Kelvedon Hatch Wright. I'd have to work it out as to exactly what cousin relationship Alpha's descendants were to Wilbur and Orville, but they would share as their most recent common ancestor, John Wright of Kelvedon Hall (1488 - 1551). The children of Alpha Wright and Lucy Foster were: Philo Wright (b. 1812, d. 1844); William Wheeler Wright (b. 1814, d. 1883); Lucy Ann Wright (b. 1816, d. 1899); Clement Wright (b. 1818, d.y. 1821); Abigail Wright (b. 1820 d.?); Clement Wright (b. 1822, d. ?); Amelia Wright (b. 1825, d. um. 1848); Twins Mary & Martha Wright (b. 1827, d. 1884 & ?); Benjamin Deming Wright (b. 1829, d. ?); Handel Haden Wright (b. 1832, d.um. 1854); Charles Storrs Wright (b. 1834, d.um. 1854). The only difference I see in what you listed is that William Wheeler Wright would not be William S. Wright. Assuming that the S. is a typo.... Going back to the children of Albert Allen Wright, it would appear that Helen Bedortha Wright would have been roughly contemporary with Wilbur and Orville Wright. I'll work up a 'cousin chart' for you and let you know what cousin relationship they were to Wilbur and Orville Wright. I am a 12th cousin once removed to them.
