Most of them were "seaman" or "whalers', so maybe that's where her surname originated. I know there were WRIGHTS, HANDS, & GROVERS there early. Alot of them moved into other NJ counties, but the WRIGHTS were also in EASTHAMPTON, LONG ISLAND (SUFFOLK NY) before NJ. Cape May is just across the bay from PA. Hope this helps your seach!
