WILLIAM JOSEPH*1 WRIGHT was born February 20, 1893 in Rock, Mercer Co., WV. He married MARY ALICE SYRES Abt. 1918, daughter of LAWSON SYRES and ROSA BAILEY. She was born January 26, 1899. Notes for WILLIAM JOSEPH* WRIGHT: The 1920 census enumerates William J. (age 25), Alice (age 20) and Viola E. (age 1 year, 2 months). All were born in West Virginia. He was a laborer. The 1930 census records William J. (age 38), Alice (age 31), Elizabeth (age 11), Dorothy (age 10), Carl (age 7) and Blaine (age 3). All were born in West Virginia. He was a farmer. Notes for BLAINE WRIGHT: Bluefield Daily Telegraph Blaine Wright BLUEFIELD - Blaine Wright, 74, of Cumberland Care in Bluefield, a former resident of Matoaka, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at his residence. Born Oct. 3, 1926, in Matoaka, he was the son of the late William J. and Mary Alice Syres Wright. He was a retired custodian with the Mercer County School System last working at Matoaka. He was a member of the Ashworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Matoaka. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include one brother, Carl Wright and wife, Jane; two sisters, Elizabeth Martin and Dorothy Hubbard, all of Princeton. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the Rev. Charlie Drake officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Notes for DOROTHY WRIGHT: Dorothy Wright Hubbard Wednesday, Aug. 09, 2006 Bluefield Daily Telegraph PRINCETON - Dorothy Wright Hubbard of 1411 Main Street in Princeton, died Tuesday, Aug. 08, 2006 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born in Rock, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary Alice Syres Wright. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, her husband, James C. Hubbard; and one brother, Blaine Wright preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, David "Rusty" Hubbard and wife Joy of Princeton; two grandsons, A.J. Hubbard and Matthew Hubbard; one sister, Elizabeth Martin of Princeton; and one brother, Carl Wright and wife Jane of Princeton. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the Rev. Nelson Linkous officiating. There will be no visitation.
