I can't seem to get beyond my great grandfather, J H Wright b. ca. 1835 1870 U.S. census, Cherokee County, Alabama, population schedule, Twp 9, Range 7, Sand Rock post office Page 1, Lines 1-6 Dwelling 1, Family 1: Wright, J H, 35, M, W, Black Smith, 500, 300, SC ---- Lucinda, 30, F, W, House Keeper, Ala ---- Zylphia E, 12, F, W, Ala ---- James H, 9, M, W, Ala** ---- George, 4, M, W, Ala ---- Lucinda A, 2, F, W, Ala Dwelling 1, Family 2: (Lines 7-9) Wright, George, 66, M, W, Black Smith, -, 300, SC ---- Caroline, 37, F, W, House Keeper, SC ---- Samantha, 16, F, W, Ala **This is my grandfather about whom a 2C2R said she thought I had found my grandfather's family because of the following: I remembered my dad talking about an Uncle George. Middle name, Hamilton from his daughter's death certificate: "From Certificate 10044: Item #13, Father's name: James Hamilton Wright" 1900 Census about James Hamilton Head, Aug 1861, 38, Md 15, Alabama, North Carolina##, Alabama, Farmer ##As you know, census enumerators didn't always do a 100% accurate job in recording the information; AND the informants weren't necessarily family members or actually knew the real info. So we don't know for sure which Carolina was the birthplace of J H "Sr." But I would bet the proveberial "dollar to a doughnut" that J H was also James Hamilton because my Uncle Aaron Paul and his wife gave that name to my cousin. All my cousins on my dad's side are now gone. And I haven't found any descendents who seem to be interested in the family tree. Growing up, I always thought my dad and his siblings were all born in the Collinsville AL area. But when I found the WWI draft card images, my uncles' cards indicate Collinsville, DeKalb County, but Dad's card referenced Cherokee County. I think that is about enough for this post.
