The background is correct for the parents of Wayne, Jess, and Joe--father was Milton and their mother was Rosana/Roxane who? The family were in 1880 Caldwell Co., Texas; one or two of their older brothers were still there by 1900. This is the interesting topic--finding the cousins of the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur... especially since my g-aunt Lillie Wright claimed they were her father's second cousins. Since her grandparents, Griffin R. (should be Randle) Wright and Malinda B. C. Tucker Wright were in 1850 Lincoln Co., TN then later NW Arkansas, makes for a wild goose chase. In Lincoln Co., there was Sylvester H. Wright who wound up in 1860 Arkansas too; there was Joel Wright who wound up in 1860 Lawrence Co., Missouri, later in Arkansas during the Civil War, then died in Indiana. For Wayne, Jess and Joe Wright in 1900 Potter Co., Texas where some of their kids stayed and married, including Virgie who married into the pioneer Jameson family near Amarillo, another interesting angle is that Curt Wright, whose Wright family was also in 1800's Lincoln Co., TN, had a Robert Wright living in 1930's Amarillo. Curt lives around Oklahoma City. There are living Wright men from these lines. Now for a living Wright man from the line of Jacob Wright in early Lincoln Co., TN? Looks like an opportunity for DNA connecting or eliminating Wright lines. > From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: WRIGHT-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2008 22:19:27 +0000> Subject: Re: [WRIGHT] Three brothers in Texas Panhandle--Wayne, Jess, Joe> > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.> > Author: jeffwright_1> Surnames: > Classification: queries> > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/15260.1/mb.ashx> > Message Board Post:> > A quick look at the census records show that these boys had a father named Milton, which interestingly is the name of Orville and Wilbur's father. Both Miltons were born roughly the same time (1828 vs 1833), and both were born in Indiana. But there it falls apart. The grandfather of your three boys was Elias from Tennessee, whereas the grandfather of the Wright Brothers was Daniel, whose line go back to the New England area (CT). The Wright line of Lunenburg Co. VA that married into the Jarrett family has both of the names, Griffin & Randle/Randall in it. A desc from my 4th gr grandfather, Reuben Wright, of VA & Henry/Wayne Co. IN recently submitted a dna sample & it matched perfectly with a desc of Jarrett Wright of Lunenburg Co who marr Tabitha Howell. This Jarrett died in 1820, Greene Co. GA. The surety at the wedding of Jarrett & Tabitha was a James Randle (other members of the family marr into this Randle line too) & this Jarrett's uncle, also a Jarrett Wright, marr an Eliz Griffin. You might try looking at that family for clues to your line of Wrights. Some of these Wrights, Randalls, etc also settled in Montgomery Co. IL & surrounding counties. Anyone from this line, please post or email me at deae@consolidated.net Thanks, Diane Ethridge Conroe, TX ----- Original Message ----- From: "N. Thanks. There is the Griffin Wright line in NC, branches in KY, Indiana, MO, etc, even a few in Texas. Mine appears to be named after the Griffin Randle living near the Wrights on the early Lincolin Co., TN census records. I am looking to connect some early day Wrights from VA, Maryland, the Carolinas that branched to TN, Alabama, KY, Ohio, Indiana, TX, Arkansas, etc, including the Wrights in early day Hunt Co., TX. --Several branched to early California and Oregon. > From: deae@consolidated.net> To: wright@rootsweb.com> Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2008 19:15:07 -0600> Subject: Re: [WRIGHT] Three brothers in Texas Panhandle--Wayne, Jess, Joe> > The Wright line of Lunenburg Co. To all Wrights with linkage to Pennsylvania, North Carolina,Kentucky,Texas, Missouri, etc. I have at least three lines and all collateral to My LEE line. Some of it proved and a lot of questions. The largest of these is the Gideon and Hezekiah WRIGHT lines out of the Carolinas, pre Rev. war. Why are they considered Tory? And What damages beyond theft did the widows sue for.? Has any one sorted out the many Hezekiahs, Durlin, which I am told is a lineage surname Darling. Is there a proven tie to ENYART/D(variable spelling).? Where in the old country did these Wright emigrate.? Pennsylvania line does appear to be a German-Welch line. But the legal documents have a lot of unknowns James Wright and Margaret??? My Texas WRIGHTs left Missouri around 1870. and descendents now live near Dallas. I also have a book by Frank SLAVEN, Jr tracking a Dr. Thomas Jefferson Wright of the panhandle of Texas. They were from Missouri descendents of John and Eliza?Ann CULL?WRIGHT. I highly recommend "The Wright Brothers were There Too!" and a book "Frank Wright's My life as a Cowboy". both are in paperback and less than 200 pages. Slaven also compiled "William C. Moore: Good Guy or outlaw Bill". The counties of Hansford and Hutchinson, Texas and locations of the family are the end pieces. No index, yet. Bud.
