Below is info about the Wright family I am looking for. I am sure it is not the same family, but if you find any info. about this Wright family in Brown Co., IL or Lewis Co., MO, please let me know. I am searching for ggg grandparents -- Wrights who were in Pennsylvania in the 1830s - 1850s?. Alexander Wright, b. abt. 1820 in Upper Canada or New York and his sister Clarissa Wright. Alexander married Matilda Jones (b. 1818 in Penn.) in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Clarissa Wright (b. Upper Canada 1830) married Isaac Jones (Matilda and Isaac are brother and sister also). The Jones' parents were from Wales. Issac Jones served in the Ohio infantry and was injured and died in the Civil war. Alexander and Matilda's children -- Smith Wright, b.abt. 1842 in Penn.; Adeline Wright, b. abt 1843 in Penn, m. Matthew Lee (b. in Ireland); William Wright, b. abt 1845 in Ohio; Emaline (Emma) Wright, b. 1849 in Penn; and John E. Wright, b abt. 1851 in Illinois. Alexander and Matilda Wright are listed on 1860 census of Lewis County, Missouri; Matilda and 3 youngest children are listed in 1870 census of Brown County, Ill. (Presume Alexander had died.) Emaline Wright married John Le! slie and they lived in Lewis Co., MO their entire lives. (They were my gggrandparents.) Adeline Wright Lee and family and mother Matilda were in Lewis Co., MO in 1880. Adeline and husband Matthew Lee died in Brown Co., IL. Matthew Lee was a steam engineer. I have been unable to find out what county IL John E. Wright was born. Also cannot find any trace of Alexander's sons -- Smith, William and John Wright. Matilda and her daughter, Adeline (Wright) Lee, and children are listed (1880 census) in Lewis Co., Missouri. Emma Wright married John Leslie in Brown Co., Ill. and moved to Lewis Co., Missouri (1880 census) where they resided the remainder of their lives. They were my great-great grandparents. Good Luck in your search. Ruth Little Slottag Springfield, IL Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
