My husband is a descendant of "Erastus Wright", Erastus/Ernestus/Ernestice ?, obit said Ernestus. Living St. Albans, Franklin Co., Vermont 1850 census, wife Jane born Ireland. 1875 Minnesota State census: claims parents born Vermont 1880 Minnesota ; claims father born MA, mother "blank" they had the following children Harriet b. abt 1845 St. Albans George Frederick 24 Mar 1847 St. Albans Francis Ernsetus b. 28 Jan 1852 St. Albans Eunice Jane 14 Jan 1850 St. Albans Lawrence 19 Aug 1854 St. Albans Charles A. b. Winona Minnesota 8 Aug 1858 *Clara* 22 Sept 1860 Winona Agnes Cornelis Mar 1863 Winona Orrilla 28 Feb 1867 Winona his obit says he was born Franklin Co. Vermont 20 March 1822 but I can't seem to find a family where he fits in, no other Wright's have heard of him. >From "History of Franklin & Grand Isle Counties Vermont" Melancton Tuller married Hattie(Harriet) Wright daughter of Carlton Wright in 1857 the Newton genealogy found on ancestry has Josiah Newton's daughter Lucy Belknap b. 4 May 1810 St. Albans marrying 18 April 1831 Carlton Wright born Dunham, Canada Erastus was a farmer but a carpenter by trade, it is said carpentry was a trade he inherited belonged to the Congregational church, very stict. disowned my husbands g-grandmother Clara for marrying a Catholic it is believed he disowned his daughter Harriet also, apparently no one was allowed to mention her name, I had no luck tracing her. I have connected with some other descendants, but Vermont is a major brick wall. the Cong. church in St. Alban's burned with no surviving records. He was not a taxpayer or land owner his first son was named George so possibly Erastus's father was a George Wright If you come across this name please help.
