Births . . . . George Wright son of Thomas Wright senior and Mary his wife was born March 5th 1795 . . . . Deaths. Died, at Prospect Hill, in the county of Essex, on the 11th of the present month, in the 44th year of her age, Mrs. Susan F. Wright, the wife of Col. George Wright, leaving a disconsolate husband and three sons, with an extensive circle of relations and friends, to lament their melancholy bereavement Col. George Wright of Essex County, breathed his last at his residence, "Prospect Hill," on Friday the 29th day of November, leaving a large and interesting family and an extensive circle of relatives and friends to mourn his loss . . . ." Baptisms George Wright at Beverly's Mill by Rev Thos 22d April 1822 Susan F Jones Augt 11 1812" In her letter dated August 23, 1989, Sue Wright enclosed a copy of entries copied from a Family Bible, possibly by Emily Matilda Wright Povell and which were in 1989 in the possession of Mr. Roy Povall of Jackson, Mississippi, and which listed the following information for the family of Thomas Wright: "Copied from my Family Bible in trust to be transcribed in another Bible shd I deem it necessary upon getting to Va . . . . Deaths . . . . Colo. George Wright brother to T. Wright 29th Nov.1850 of Essex County Va . . . ." In her letter dated August 14, 1991, Mrs. Dorothy Hankins enclosed a copy of genealogical notes by Mrs. Linnie Wright Barnett which stated that Essex County, Virginia, Court Order Book 41/370 dated in May 1814 listed the following entry: "George Wright, son of Thomas Wright Sen'r, is recommended to the Governor and Council to be commissioned Lieutenant in Capt Carter M. Braxton's Company in the room of Alexander S Boughton, resigned." The marriage record of George Wright and Susan F. Jones was dated on January 11, 1816, at Essex County, Virginia: "The Clerk of Essex County has my consent to issue License for my son George Wright to intermarry with Susan F. Jones daughter of Capt. John Jones Thos Wright Senior 11th of Jany 1816 Know all men by these presents, That we George Wright and John Jones are held and firmly bound unto Wilson C Nicholas Esquire, Governor or Chief Magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to which payment, well and truly to be made, to the said Governor and his successors, for the use of the Commonwealth, we bind ourselves, and each of us, our and each of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.
