If your Wrights are Presbyterian, they are probably Lowland Scots; Anglican, English; Catholic, Irish (possibly Highland Scots or English); Quaker, English; Methodist, Welsh/English; Congregational, English. It works pretty well if you can trace your Wright heritage to the original immigrant to the U.S., especially if they came in the 16-19 centuries. People rarely crossed from one religious denomination to another during those times. National affiliations often determined one's religious affiliation. For example, I doubt that an Anglican Englishman would forsake his religious affiliation for Presbyterianism during the 18th cent. Religious bigotry tended to keep one "in his/her place." This is not a hard and fast rule, but a generality. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
