I have notes on this reference that there are some crucial contradictions in the reported birth dates and places of the Jonathan Wright men in this lineage as reported in this publication versus original Northampton records, which beg further research. In the book, Jonathan Wright Sr is said to have been born Dec 18, 1686 in Northampton, MA. However the Northampton vital statistics records has the Jonathan Wright born to James and Abigail (nee Jess) Wright as being born Dec 19, 1681. He died there 8 July 1743. These same Northampton, MA records have listed that his son, Jonathan Wright Jr., was born in Northampton on March 1, 1710/11 and not in Windsor, CT 1710 as reported in the Vermillion County History publication (page 119). Windsor, CT is sufficiently far away from Northampton, MA so as there can be no jurisdictional confusion as to where the ! birth should have been recorded. This suggests that there is an error in the Vermillion County Historical Society's publication of some sort. Now I know about Abiah Keep marrying a Jonathan Wright on 9 June 1737 in Windsor from the 1912 publication, "A Genealogical Record of the descendants of Quartermaster, George Colton". It is entirely possible that this Jonathan Wright was one and the same man as Jonathan Wright born in Northampton. That man would have been 26 in 1737. But if this is true he was certainly not born in Windsor, CT as reported in the "Vermillion County, Indiana History". And it seems highly unlikely he was nothing more than a transient resident from somewhere else anyway, given that there were no Wright families recorded in the Windsor, CT vital records during the 1600s and early 1700s. Transient from where is the critical question to be answered and given the number of Jonathan Wrights for about the correct age in New England at the time, I am not entirely convinced that we have the correct Jonathan Wright identified in these two publications. I have not personally researched this descendant family of James Wright and Abigail Jess any further than what I report here. I have not even verified the marriage record for Abiah Keep and Jonathan Wright in Windsor, so in my book, the connection between Jonathan Wright born 1710/11 in Northampton, MA and the Jonathan Wright married to Abiah Keep in 1737 in Windsor, CT is yet to be shown in any conclusive way, and thereby hangs the lineage you cite. I hope some of what I have pointed out sends you off in the right direction with further research. Best of Luck, Mike Wright Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
