Some records show him as Proctor KIDDER. In 1827, he married Mary Ann WRIGHT, b~1808, reported to have been the daughter of Luther WRIGHT and Priscilla REED. The couple was probably in the Chelmsford or Westford area, but I don't find them in census until 1810 in Westford. "Proctor" and Mary KIDDER divorced and then remarried in Groton, MA, in 1835. They then had 4 children, 3 daughters and a son, between 1836 and 1841. Unfortunately, Mary died as a result of childbirth in early 1841. I have a suspicion their 4 very young children, 5 to newborn, might have been raised by another family in Westford. In Sept. 1841, "Proctor" remarried to Clarissa CROSBY (1804-1878). She went to the Poor Farm in 1845 and delivered a son there in Feb. 1846. By 1850 she had "taken off" and ended up bringing her very young son to a family in Hebron, NH. (Clarissa is a mystery lady as no one can figure out who her parents were.) I was just wondering if anyone has researched Charles and Mary KIDDER of Westford and knows something about their children's childhood years. I have very basic information on the marriages of their 3 daughters, and I just found out that their son, Charles Henry KIDDER, 1839, married a woman from Maine. And the couple moved to Cleveland, OH, and raised their children there. Possibly after the Civil War.
