    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rngrant Surnames: WRIGHT Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/8232.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Karl, A couple of additional items that I suspect you may already have, but if not, was sure you would want to know. In addition to the census records you listed, the 1860 Census for Pulaski County, KY, listed George Wright, age 50 and born in VA, with wife Sarah, age 54 and born in VA, and their youngest children from the 1850 Lee County, VA, Census, Luke Wright, age 13, and James Wright, age 11. George's occupation was listed as shoemaker. Immediately adjacent to George Wright was his oldest son David Wright, age 26, with wife Nancey, age 31, and children John, age 6, Margaret, age 4, and William, age 1. Also, the 1860 Census for Claiborne County, TN, listed Charles Wright immediately adjacent to the John Wright you listed and his age as 22 and born in VA, with wife Lucinda, age 19, and daughter Elizabeth, age 1. With Elender listed in John Wright's household in the 1860 Claiborne County, TN, Census, that accounts for six of the nine children of George and Sarah Wright listed in the 1850 Lee County, VA, Census. The death record of Ellen Raney was dated on July 5, 1920, in Marion County, KY, and listed her parents as George Wright and Sarah Hunphrey/Humphrey. This confirms numerous Ancestry.com family trees which list George Wright's wife as Sarah Humphrey. Those family trees also list James Wright who died in 1929 in Marion County, KY, as a son of George and Sarah Wright. However, his death record lists his father as James Wright and mother as unknown, so it is unclear how the identification was made that James was the son of George and Sarah. Some of those family trees state that George Wright was born in Culpeper County, VA, but I have not found primary documentation for that assertion. Similarly, some of those family trees state that George Wright died in 1900 in Lee County, VA, but I have not found any primary documentation for that assertion. Hope this is of some help to your research. Robert N. 3. Oh, you are so right. Those Wrights from Bucks County are so elusive. I am descended from Amos, the brother of Benjamin. My Dad started researching this family back in the 1970s and he was pretty sure they did come from New Jesey but could not find the final proof. I have been looking since the 1980s and can't find the Bucks County ancestor for sure which would maybe let me get back to New Jersey. I am very upset with some of the trees on Ancestry. They seem just add what they think fits without any proof. There is no suggestion in any of my research that any of them came from Virginia. I have been working with 2 others in this family and we all feel the New Jersey connection is correct. If we could find the minutes from the correct Quaker Meeting, we could maybe find the needed information. Unfortunately none of us have been able to locate these minutes. I keep hoping to get to Philadelphia to see if they are there. Good luck and if you do find anything, let us know. I will do the same thing. New Jersey is just across the Delaware River from Bucks County so this make sense to me, the problem for me is all the Wright families seem to have name their children the same Family Names, so it is very hard to determined who would have been Benjamin's father and his father, I have been targeting the Wright's for Bucks County and I think I have found the right family but cannot be 100% sure . The family is Stephen Wright in Bucks County Pa with the family line I believe going thur the Thomas Wright married to Mary Schooly I have used the maps on ancestry.com > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
