Author: RhondaDMcCune Surnames: Wright, Murrell, Commander Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/17129/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to determine the parents/ancestors of my 4th great-grandfather, John Wright who died in Darlington, SC in 1827. John Wright b abt 1792 VA (possibly Amherst), married Rebecca MURRELL, daughter of Zachariah Murrell of NC. Rebecca was administrator of John's estate. Their children were all born in SC: McDuffie Wright b abt 1815 m Sarah LNU Molsey Wright b abt 1817 m John Crow Perdie Wright b 1820 d aft 1870 John W. Wright b abt 1821, m Angelina COMMANDER (my line) Hugh Wright - b abt 1823 never married Sarah A. Wright b abt 1826 m George Phillips A "John" Wright was administrator of the estate of a "James" Wright who died in Darlington, SC in 1819. Was "James" his father? I have also seen notes that John Wright had brothers named Robert and Daniel, but have no proof of lineage. I have also seen a military record reference to a John Wright b 1792 in Amherst, VA, but don't know if this is my John. I know there were several "Wright" families from Virginia that migrated to North & South Carolina, and would appreciate any suggestions on how to proceed with my research and correctly merge my line with the Virginia line. I also have much information on my line from John W. Wright and Angelina Commander if anyone is interested in that information. I goofed on my reply just now when I compared your brother's matches to a Wright database. He would, of corse, not be matching with Wrights. I don't know how may Vaseys and variant are in Ancestry.com's database, but from what I have seen with other surnames, there are likely not many if any. I did check to see if the company I use have any Vasey's in their database. There is a small surname DNA project with this surname and variants. At this time they have six -- not a large database.
