    1. [WRIGHT] Looking for a male Wright descendant of Captain Peter Wright d. 1821 Shaftsbury, VT
    2. Diane Wright
    3. Hi, I am looking for a male Wright surnamed descendant of Captain Peter Wright b. 1740 in Hempstead, NY who served in the Rhode Island militia during the Revolution then later moved to Shaftsbury, VT where he died in 1821. My brother (surnamed Wright) has done a DNA test but so far the Wright DNA project does not have a test for anyone descended from Captain Peter Wright. Through other records I am postulating our descent from him but would like genetic evidence to further strengthen that case. I would also love to see more DNA tests from other colonial New England and New York state Wrights. My brother's test has matched to a couple of colonial Virginia Wrights. I believe these may be brothers of my main line but until I can trace my line farther back I won't know how or when our families join up. Thanks very much! Diane Wright

Author: johnson4529 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/17180.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Tamala, First, I am not related. I had some time to do some digging and this is what I found for you: Charlie and Jettie had 9 children (you missed Emmett). They were married 4 Jan 1912 in Prattville, Autauga Co., AL. Charlie was born 12 Oct 1890 or 1891 and died 15 Mar 1965. Jettie was born 17 Oct 1896 and died 4 Apr 1966. Charlie's parents were James Samuel Wright, born Feb 1872 in Autauga Co. He married Adline Kitt 24 Jan 1889. James S Wright died between 1910 and 1940. Adline Kitt Wright was born in April 1871 and died 17 Mar 1941 in Elmore Co. AL. She is buried in Kingston Cemetery in Deltageese, AL. Jettie's parents were Horace Brown and Georgiana ? according to what I could find online (her death record), but I did not find them in any census so that may not be completely correct. James S Wright's parents were Aris (or Avis) J Wright (b 1838) and Mary ? (b 1844). Both were born in Alabama, but their parents were born in Georgia and North Carolina. Adline Kitt's parents were Shade Kitt and Mary Wilson. He was born in South Carolina in about 1825. She died before the 1880 census. I found all of this information at ancestry.com, familysearch.com and findagrave.com - the last 2 websites are free. I hope this helps you. I traced back as far as there are records (1870 census) that are easily traced. Your Wright family was in Autauga County, Alabama from 1870 until 1940 and probably before that as well. Good luck in your search. Laurice Johnson Menifee, CA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
