Jimmy's first wife before Essie Mae. After she died and he remarried, my grandmother Mary Wright was raised by Essie. My daddy is named William Henry after two of his uncles, older sons of Mucith and Jimmy. I have located children of RC, the son that drowned in 75(?). They are mostly in Arkansas. A bit spread but still there. And the children of William are in California (Northern). Although we have different great grandmothers, we are Family! I am in Southern California and would love to share information. My dad is still alive and lives here in So Cal as well. Email is mstrotter@gmail.com. Who are your parents and where are you living? I will add it to the information to John R. Wright, son of Thompson A. Wright and Sarah Norcross. You did have me confused with the name Massie and I appreciate the clarification. I am glad that you had correspondence with Bob Grant. I hope he informed you that this line is proven through DNA to John Wright and Elizabeth Randolph, Thompson A. Wright's parents. John can be connected to his grandfather Richard Wright who died in 1767 in Prince William Co. VA This line is also connected somehow through DNA to a Peter Wright born in about 1740 who died in Vermont in 1821 and a Samuel Gardner in Clarke Co. Georgia in the early 19th century. However, I am sorry to have confused you. By Sarah Massie Wright, I did not mean she'd married a Massie--- Rather John Edward Davis in 1887. I did not have the same difficulty with the census. The 1900 census shows her back home with John R. and Mary L., and states she is widowed. It lists her name as Davis and shows three children (but listed as John R's) --Effie, Charlie, and Carrie M. The 1920 census shows John R. living in the home of Harry Ember Walker, as Mr. Grant stated, (although the census shows Harry, not Harvey). Also, the 1920 census shows Sarah M. Jennings (the remarried Sarah M. Wright Davis) living still with Effie, identified as her daughter. But now Effie is married to a McKee. John R. is living in the home of Harry Ember Walker, because Carrie M. (now grown) is married to Harry Walker. John R. is listed in the household as "grandfather," connecting them. Mr. Grant was able to supply that John R.'s death certificate does list Thompson A. Wright (Senior) as John R. Wright's father, his mother Sarah Norcross. Hope that helps. Since sending y e-mail, I've found that Peter B. Hill, in the Five Generations books for the Doty family, vol 1, also makes reference to Ebenezer, with a note he was baptized on 12/11/1748. The source of information for that notation is: Berkshire Co. PR 18:26-7, which I'm assuming are the probate records. But whose probate records? Neither Steven or I can find reference to Ebenezer in James Ayrault's will. You do make a very interesting point that Ebenezer was not a name used in the Ayrault family - you're right, and it's very thought provoking. There are lot's of possibilities here, but it's going to take a lot of digging; I may not be able to access all the records needed. I'll keep digging and let you know what I find. If you get the time and find anything, would appreciate a note. Weather in Wisconsin has passed the peak of the color season so we're getting into late fall. Take care. First, he shows a baptismal date for Ebenezer that is six years prior to James and Abigail (Kilborn) Ayrault joining the church the contains the entry, seven years prior to their marriage and nine years prior to the baptism of their next child. Second, there are no other references to an "Ebenezer Ayrault" in any records I have ever seen. And while this may carry little weight, there is also the fact that "Ebenezer" simply is not a name that is used in the Ayrault family. Stiles cites the Wethersfield Church Records and so to resolve the issue once and for all what I should do is review the original church records. I'll put it on my "to do" list! Continued good luck on your research and Best regards, John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Had e-mail to you about 2 years ago re the Ayrault family, and you responded with information you had. In that 2 years I have done some research about my family and was able to establish connection with Jane Ayrault as one of my ancestors. Now am working on another project involving the Ayraults and having a problem. Have you ever come across an Ebenezer Ayrault? Stiles says he was born 12-11-1748, but can't find any other reference to him. Supposedly he is first born of Abigail Kilbourn and James Ayrault, which would make him brother to Jane, but I can't seem to find any collaborating eveidence to Stiles, and just wondering if perhaps you had ever come across that name. Thanks for the information. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You will need to give them your name & address so they can send the test kit to you, and it is most convenient if you also go ahead and pay for the test using your credit card or debit card through their secure payment server. I believe the minimum test, a 12 "STR marker" test, is $99 and this test provides enough data to identify your haploid group, which is the main category of classification. If, later on, you decide you need data for more "markers" in order to figure out your relationship to other participants in the group you match, then you just go back to the FTDNA web site and order an "upgrade" test to 37, 67 or 111 markers. FTDNA will have the upgrade test performed on your original sample that was placed in deep frozen storage after the original testing so you do not need to provide another sample. After you have ordered your test kit, go to FTDNA's "PROJECTS" page and select WRIGHT as one of the projects you want to join. That will link you and your results to the separate project page at www.wright-dna.org so that when your test results are available, they are automatically posted and compared to the other 400 Y-DNA Wright men's profiles. While you are waiting for your test kit to arrive you may want to explore the FamilyTreeDNA web site's FAQ that, among many other things, explain about how to use the test kit when it arrives. There are also many tutorial pages concerning what genetic genealogy is so that you can learn all you can about what a Y-DNA profile can tell you about your ancestry and why genetic genealogy has become such a powerful tool for those researchers who are struggling to find documentation for past generations of their families. You will also want to visit the Wright-DNA web site and look at the results pages to get an idea of how your Y-DNA profile will be posted by looking at all the other posted data there. They also have some informational pages concerning the overall Wright DNA project that will be good to know once your results become part of the database there. When you test kit arrives, you simply take out the brushes, scrap the inside of your cheek a few times, and place the brushes securely inside the vials that come with the kit. When you are done with taking your own samples, put the sealed vials back in the pre-addressed shipping pouch that is provided and mail them back to FTDNA. FTDNA then sends the samples off to Arizona State University for DNA testing with only the kit number as an identifier. No one at ASU knows whose kit belongs to whom, so you become just a number at this point. When ASU is done with the testing they send the results back to FTNDA and FTDNA then provides the kit number and DNA values to the Wright-DNA Project administrators who categorize the results, again identified only by a kit number, and post them on their web site. You can then go to the web site, look up your kit number and see who else you might be grouped with based on your DNA marker values. At this point, you can remain anonymous, jus! t a kit number and a Y-DNA profile, or you can reach out to some of the others on the list through their e-mail links and become part of their research community. It's your choice. If you are fortunate enough to match the profile of other men in the project, you will be provided with the e-mail address of those men and thereby may be introduced to people who are researching the same family group and may be able to help you and vis-a-versa. Good luck with your research. Sounds like you are already dealing with confusing documentation and I hope a DNA connection will help you sort that out.
