    1. [WRIGHT] Jack, Roy, Harvey, Philp, William
    2. My Thanks goes out to the Behymer list (John) As some may remember 8 years ago I wrote to the Wright list and the Behymer list to help me find my father in-laws family as his father would not tell him or his siblings about his side of the family as they were growing up. So my in-laws looked on his papers and found that Roy put down Mary Cook and Mary Behymer for his Mother and Harvey and Oscar and Harry for his father and different dates for his birth. He also said he was born in Springfield Mo. and another paper he said he was born in St. Louis Mo. They got no where with what info they had. Then Mom passed away 8 years ago and I thought if I could find something for Dad it might make him Happy again to know where he came from.So I wrote and in a few days John from the Behymer list wrote to me and said he had a Harvey Oscar Wright married to Linnie Behymer and he was from Fulton Co. Ill. I didn't think it could be him as nothing really matched so passed it off for a few months then went on and just typed in there names and came up with children's names and there it was. So I then took it to Dad and he called the news paper down there and by the end of the first day he receive many phone calls from family from there. They Dad and his sisters made a trip down and they were showed pictures of the family and they looked just like his father. They helped us get to Philip who was Harvey's father and that got us to William married to Malinda Wiseman In Harrison Co. Ind. where I have been stuck for a few years now. I did the DNA and got no where there either I have wrote to the Wright list many times and keep coming up with nothing to help me find him. Most people were kind and tried to help a few were not so nice. But now I am going to keep looking but not as much any more as you see my Father in-law passed away the other day and I Thank John for helping me get started on making my Jack a happy man for as long as we had him. I am sorry this is so long but I think it was important to write this. Dianna Wright ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

I really don't know; it's certainly possible. Here's all I have found about John Robert Wright's father, John Patton Wright: Mary Lockhart and John Patton Wright lived at Lockhart, Texas, until 1868when they moved to live on the 1050 acre tract which Mary inheirted asher share of her father's estate. The land was located in the Prices'Creek area of DeWitt County-later became Thomaston Community. Plum Creek Almanac, Vol 9., No. 1, pg. 49 "Friday, June 18, 1897 Mr. John Patton Wright, brother of Mrs. J.M.Jolley, Sr., died at his home near Cuero on the 12th. He was born in Miss. on October 29, 1829, and came to Texas in the winter of 1853. Hemarried on June 7, 1859, to Mary M. Lockhart, who died Febuary 16, 1875,he again married married September 25, 1877, to Margaret Callahan. By hisfirst marriage there were seven children born, five of whom are living.By the second marriage two children were born, both are alive. He was converted in the spring of 1861 and baptized by the Rev. L.S. Coxin the Baptist church of Lockhart. He moved to DeWitt Co. in the summerof 1865, settling at Thomaston where he lived until the last two yearswhen he lived in Cuero. He moved back to the old home, where. on the 12thof June at 11:45 a.m., 1897, he died." The key bit of information in that is "born in Mississippi." So, were any of your NA Wrights in or near MS in 1829? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I agree and am already favoring the "other indications" which were from an old history book about DeWitt County, TX. Some Wrights connect to this McManus family both directly and by marriage. And, they were all from the south. William Jasper McManus' father was David McManus, born about 1818 in SC. David McManus married Martha Ann Wright, b. 10 Jul 1822, probably in SC. One of William Jasper McManus' children (Mary Ann McManus) married John Robert Wright. He and his parents moved to Thomaston, TX from Lockhart, TX in 1868. His parents were John Patton Wright and Mary Melvina Lockhart. I do not yet know John Patton Wright's ancestry or whether there was any upstream connection with his son's wife's grandmother, Martha Ann Wright, probably of SC. So, any information you may have that could provide clues as to these "Wright mysteries," would be very much appreciated. Thanks again for the response and for the good tips. Given name: Joseph Cornelius We are guessing that the informant for the census possibly said "Joe C" which enumerator heard as "Josie", therefore a daughter "Josie" was recorded. Other things you might consider: 1) How clear was the image? Some images are so faint, reading is difficult. 2) Was there a serious "bleed through" from another page? If the information in your post was all I had, I would rely more on your "other indications" (I have also found that information from New York State is harder to find than from other states.) Other than that, I have no McManus's or Youngs, and my Wrights are from the South. Best wishes, Glenn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rwebb300 Surnames: Wright, McManus, Young Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/15104/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for information about Joseph Mack Young (b. 27 Sep 1886; d. 17 Nov 1980) and his wife, Josephine Genevieve "Teebie" (Wright) Young (b. 22 Sep 1895; d. 07 Mar 1966). He was a retired U.S. Navy Captain. They were both buried in Arlington National Cemetery. She was from Thomaston, Texas. Her parents were John Robert Wright and Mary Ann "Tottie" (McManus) Wright. Mack and Teebie Young had at least one child, apparently a son born about 1929 and apparently named Joseph Mack Young, Jr. I am researching the Wright ancestry, and I am anxious to learn if Mack and Teebie had descendants who lived to adulthood, and if any are still living. In the 1930 census, Mack and Teebie were living in Queens, NY. Their one-year-old child was (apparently) incorrectly identified in that census as Jenevieve W. Young. We have other indications that child was a son, named for his father. But, we are not yet sure which is correct (son or daughter born about 1929). His name is Samuel Wright. He was born on August 30, 1825 in Kingston Canada and died in Nobel County, Indiana in 1916. His Death record indicates Samuel's parents were William Wright and Betsy Bradler (could be bradley?). On various census reports he has stated his parents were born in Ohio, PA and New York. On the 1860 Coldwater, Branch, Michigan Census it indicated that his brother John was living with him. His estimated date of birth is 1833. Samuel was married twice, his second wife was Almira Duesler, they had two children: Morton & Emily Wright. (I am descended through his 1st wife: Louise Brown - children w/Louise were George and Mary Wright). I haven't had much luck locating his parents either in Canada or in the US. Does anyone happen to have any information on this family? Thanks, Chris Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MichaelCharlesWight Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/15098.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Carolyn, I suppose you also know that John Wright was a brick manufacturer and mason (Source: Blanchard, Charles, ed., "Counties of Morgan, Monroe, and Brown Indiana, Biographical and Historical", 1884) and that a lot of the folks who were in that trade in the Pittsburgh area after the RW were originally from Virginia/West Virginia. I also suppose you have looked at some of those Virginians in and around Washington Co, PA, such as Zadock Wright and his brothers, as possible kin to your John Wright. There certainly were a slew of Wrights in Allegany and Washington Co. PA in the 1790 and 1800 census, including old Zadock. I have also heard some speculate that Joseph A Wright, son of John Wright, was a descendant of Deacon Samuel Wright (1606? - 1665) of Springfield and Northampton, MA (my area of research interest). I do not think that is correct for a number of reasons, but mention it here just to address the rumor. Other than that I have nothing in my research notes that would help you pin down John's parents any better than you already have. Maybe if you follow the wife's parents back in time you can stumble upon a better way to figure out where the husband came from. My money is on a Virginia stock of Wrights. Good luck.
