As the family story goes, the only reason my last name is Wright is that my great-grandmother married a Wright, who adopted my grandfather and his other siblings. However, I believe that the Wrights that I may end up researching may have come from South Carolina (I think). Thanks for the info! There would literally be no reason for a wife to file such a petition. You take the words she used just a little too glibly. Of course she claimed he was in Canada, she wanted to get money and land from the government.\\Simeon Wright had no daughter named Elizabeth, by the way. He did have a daughter named Lozina, who married James Lindsay. I would also point out that the Loyalist lists include MANY other Wright's, not just two of them. You choose to make far too much of the similarity in names. But whatever, choose to go down the wrong course if that is your desire.
