Wright est 1725 born to after 1800 death Looking for a William (?) Wright that was born about 1725 +or- 10 years and died after 1800 that lived in Orange Co, NY most likely. He was a Tory and very bull headed about the Rev War, he had a daughter Abigail born in 1753 in Orange County that married Joseph Johnson, and he had at least two sons John and Samuel. He may have been a Capt serving from NY or CN. His son's were officers also. He disinherited Abigail because she married married a young Rev. Soldier. He never forgave her. He is suppose to have married a Wolcott, a descendant of Roger Wolcott. I can not confirm anything on this family, other than Abigail and her family that came to (W)VA in 1800. Her son was Gov of VA and the family is buried at the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV. Any help would be so appreciated. I have looking for this Wright for 35 years. Trying to find someone who might be related to or have done research on: Riley Wright and Ida J. Hamilton m. 1 Jan 1880 in Berrien Co.: RILEY WRIGHT, age 21y of Buchanan, Berrien Co, MI, Lumberman and IDA J. HAMILTON, age 23y of Buchanan, Berrien Co, MI. were married by John C. Dick, Justice of the Peace, Witt: Simon & Hulda Hamilton, of Buchanan. (Marriage Book F, pg 10) MONTE WRIGHT...was born April 22, 1880 in Bertrand, Berrien Co, MI. Father, RILEY WRIGHT, born IN, Mother, IDA WRIGHT, born MI. Ida continues on the Berrien County censuses until 1920 and died in 1927. She uses the name Hamilton (in 1900, 1910 & 1920) and does not indicate ever having a child, however there is a Belmont Wright, born Feb., 1880 living with her and her parents on the 1880 census. He is listed as an "adopted son" and on that census Ida is Ida Wright. Riley is nowhere to be seen. Her parents were Simeon and Huldah (Smith) Hamilton. We wonder if this Belmont was actually Riley and Ida's son or if he really was an adopted child. Since he was born only a month after the wedding, it may have been a marriage of convenience and they divorced soon after with her resuming her maiden name. 1880 census, Bertrand Twp, Berrien Co, MI SIMEON HAMILTON...head....age 47y..born OH...Married...Farmer HULDA HAMILTON...wife....age 42y...born DE...Married...Keeping House IDA J.
