Hello Herb, Thank You for the input. I looked at the web link. It is a bit confusing. I could not see if the parents of Richard Sr. are known at this time. I will assume at this time no one knows who Richard Sr. parents are. My assumption is/was that the Wright's were members of a religious group possible Baptists that went to the Carolina area for religious freedom. May I butt in? I have three different WRIGHT lines, but there seem to be a penchant for using Biblical names and so does yours. Mine in one line are N. Carolinians and were deemed Tories for the REV.War , the connection is ENYART/D and DU/eRLING( Hezekiah and Gideon)both died by end of war1780's. Your Richards caught my eye because it have Sr. Jr. but much later and in Henry Co. Mo. bud. -----Original Message----- From: wright-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:wright-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2008 3:53 AM To: WRIGHT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WRIGHT] Richard Wright, Sr. and Richard Wright, Jr.

I get the Wright messages now that I'm on the mailing list. Do you know of a Richard Wright,Sr. (and Jr.) of Rowan County, NC? Jr. later moved to Davidson Co., NC Through a land sale deed, I recently became aware of my Wright heritage, being the Great-granddaughter of Mary Ann Wright (Varker) AND her 23 siblings, Richard, Jr.'s children by his second wife, Cary Kittrell (believed to be of Davidson Co., although it seems the Kittrell family is more to the eastern side of NC). Richard married 1:Mary (or Jane) Morgan in 1780; d. abt 1798. Had 12 children (includes 1 set of twins): Sarah Amos Delilah Jane Caroline Cory Gizzeal Reuben Isaiah Elijah Nancy Isom Susannah Married 2: Cary (M. 1798). Children are: Clayton Ruth (married Jesse Gallimore, Esq.) Celia (m. Snider) Nelson Silas Burges(s) Mary Ann (my GGM) Micajah Miles Ailsy It is known from an article about Ruth Wright Gallimore that her mother, Cary, had 12 children; however, I can only account for 10. Some information on this Wright family was obtained from "Genealogy of the Wright Family" by Lillie White, Mar 1943), but I've found through my own research, that some of the book is in error. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Shirley Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DSanfilippo60 Surnames: Wright; Ayers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/8086.2.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Michael - Well said... I have to admit that I am one of those 'grammar' snobs who take grammar and spelling seriously when reading and/or answering queries. Without spell check to catch my senior moments, I rarely look very closely at spelling, except for basic words, and even senior moments are no excuse for those. I too have corresponded with Mr. Grant, and he has tried to assist me in finding my William Wright: Rev. Soldier d. Clarke Co. Nov 1821, Ga. married Mary Ayers b. 14 Jan 1761 ? d. 7 Jun 1830 Clarke Co., Ga., daughter of Thomas Ayers. While I have separated the two men named William Wright who died about the same time (both Rev. soldiers) in Clarke Co., Ga., with so little information, this has been a brick wall for a long time. Better than I have tried to find his parents, where and when he was born, although I believe he was born in Va. based on the answers his children give on census. I hold nothing but the highest regard for Mr. Grant's work, and anyone who does not believe in DNA has their head in the sand! Yes, DNA had changed the family trees of many, including two of my lines, but the truth is the truth, and the most careful research work cannot change this fact. Even though there were a great deal of widows marrying widowers, orphans bonded to a male mentor, and even families taking in children of deceased friends, neighbors, or relatives this is NOT the bloodline of the child. In my case I believe that one of the above may be the case, however, this does not tell me the birth parents, and DNA has dispproved the male line relationshop. DNA is the future of genealogy, and even now The Mayflower Society is accepting DNA for membership! Soon, I suspect, other heritage societies will follow suit, and having the DNA of known male relatives is just smart. I am hoping that some day DNA will lead us to our William Wright's family. Until that day, thanks to all of your for your conscientious work. I do appreciate your efforts. We all have stars and losers among our forefathers and none of that has anything to do with the accuracy of our research or the clarity of our communications. That is yours alone to work on and I wish you God speed in that. We need all the good people here to be working together and able to effectively communicate with each other before any of us can make any progress. Sorry everyone for butting in to just vent. Hi Julie, Kin of Wright & Ammons, No, I don't have her siblings yet, I am going to Texas for 3 weeks, so will have to do some research on that when I get back. I have had communications with a fellow Genie who has some knowledge of the WRIGHT'S & AMMONS, she may have the siblings of SARAH WRIGHT - AMMONS. Just don't have time to search for that information tonight, have to get up at 5:00am to go to the airport. Let me know if you do find out ? OK............... I use the proof of another well known researcher on this family. some times the info does agree with Mr. Grant and is quoted by this other researcher if you look at my site you will find the sources we have used and the line that I am refering to. I do not agree with DNS for hundreds of years. I feel it is good for about 5 generations. My Cousin Randy Mack does not use the info of Mr. Grant and we have done great in tracing our Wright family line without DNA. To Each His Own my Mother would say. George WRIGHT wrote a book "The WRIGHT family" about 1933, very hard to find copies. I have not read the entire book. The Chapter on one of my three line of WRIGHTs is extensive and will deal mostly with Carolinians to Ky to Mo. with a few in Iowa. There was/is a Quarterly call WRIGHT WORKBOOK. I do have the advantage of some less than common first names(they are common within the line) and an ancestral ties to DARLING/DERLING. Bud.

Mr. Grant generously shared his careful work for many years with many Wright researchers, and I for one am very thankful and appreciative of his contributions. So far, the Y-DNA evidence favors his findings. It's okay to disagree if you provide evidence. When you sent this message last May something was ringing a belI with me, but I couldn't make a connection until today I finally came across the papers where I saw the name Reynolds associated with my Wright's. I have the Probate papers on my Edith Wright from Jackson Co., it states that she died intestate at the home of a Mr. Reynolds in Madison Co., IL. on the 7th of Oct. 1887. I had always thought that she was in their home caring for their children or keeping house, I hadn't had the time to find the maiden name on Mr. Reynold's wife to see if she might have been a Wright, so your query has me wondering if there might be a connection with my Edith and Mrs. Reynold's. Were you able to connect with the information from Jayne Wright-Allison? She had stated that Elizabeth's parents were from Bond Co., IL., and they were Caldwell Wright and Agnes Daniels. Edith Wright's father David Wright according to census records state that he was from Pa. however I have also heard Ky. but have no concrete proof on either one at this time. I would like to find a connection with your Wright's if there is one.
