We typically need three or more related "cousins" to take the test before we have any luck defining a modal profile and getting lucky enough to be able to tie our wagon to a proven line. In his case, I think the Wright Y-DNA group he tested as a match for are all in the same boat: not sure of any connections to Oyster Bay Wrights. I have seen George Wright (after 1684) included in the Oyster Bay Wright clan with Peter, Nicholas and Anthony, but I am almost dead certain that he was not of the same Wright family as those three brothers. He is not mentioned in their family documents, only in OB town records. There was not a single George given name in the entire known history of that Kilverstone Wright family and no record of a George Wright from Norfolk born in the early decades of the 17th century, therefore I really think that descendants tracing back to him would not be representative of the Kilverstone Wright family group but of another group entirely separate from them. But what do I know. I am not an expert on the OB Wrights or the Quakers in general, so I am just going on what I have read and seen in the English records while researching my Kelvedon Hatch Wright line. What I do know is that you can't give up searching for the answers. Best of luck to you. Mike Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Bud, So far as I know the Richard Wright Sr. of Rowan Co. NC are not connected to the Oyster Bay Wrights. There has been speculation that maybe in generation 3 or 4 one of them went to Virginia and then south, but no one has been able to show it. Most of them seemed to go to PA, NJ, NY and points straight west. Would this be the Kilverstone Hall, Co. Norfolk, England Thomas Wright we are talking about? The reason I ask is that I have an interest in Oyster Bay, Long Island Wrights who are supposed to be descended from this Norfolk Thomas Wright, and in assisting in the development of a Y-DNA profile for this descendant line of Wrights. If you do believe you descend from the Kilverstone Wrights and some of the living male descendants of your paternal grandfather were to be willing to be tested for their Y-DNA profile, we might be able to figure out something important for this well recognized line. Even if you are not descended from this Norfolk Thomas Wright, having a DNA profile for a line traced back that far would add value to our Wright-DNA research project. Hoping to hear from you on this subject.. Mike Wright Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Harry Dean Wright was my grandpa on my Dad's side; William was his younger brother! I rooted through pictures that you posted of William -- the resemblance to my Grandpa Harry is UNCANNY, it's creepy. Definitely brothers! In any case, Ancestry hinted me through the Wright family line all the way back to Thomas Wright born in England in the 1300s. If you need information, I'll gladly prod it in your direction. The Family Finder test gives the same type of results for both men and women and has meaning for ethnic mixture going back 5 to 6 generations. The test costs $289 and I owe MsLefty an apology for my previous post where I said that for the $289 you would get a 37 marker Y-DNA result as well as a Family Finder result. I was wrong about the price for that combo testing. I should have noted that the cost for obtaining both 37 marker Y-DNA results Family Finder results is actually $438.00....quite a difference! I apologize to anyone else I might have misled with that pricing part of the last post. Best Regards, Mike Wright Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Actually the new Family Finder Test that Family Tree is offering for $289 may be the one for you. Do you believe that he and his sister had Native American ancestry from one or both of their parents? If so, then the Family finder Test would be the right one. Call Family Tree DNA Testing and they will be very helpful.
