My husband Dave is not interested in that sort of thing, but is a pretty good handyman in an emergency. Maybe it has something to do with the Wrights' crooked pinkies? I wish I wasn't related to some of the people I am related to! Whereabouts in the UK do your "Wrights" hail from? The skills haven't been passed down the generations, because neither of the brothers nor my Dad are any good at woodwork! There were a lot of windmills in Norfolk, so maybe that fact is correct! I like windmills - we have a working one here in Anglesey - so maybe it's in the DNA! Best wishes, Carolyn Wright Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Maybe this will help understand some pick up pieces most of us have found and wondered if they fit some place. Before computers it was common to indent with a change of generations. Some even drew vertical line to keep siblings Identified.let me see if this will work as an example; 1father His wife 11 first child His wife Their children Child's spouse 12second child etc etc. Thus each indention. There are book on the various systems. I would guess from your example Gage should have followed Micajahi name, but might indicate raised by Gage. My Amos Wright in Randolph co Mo. born ca1831 is actually James md to Martha Aversson. There is an Amos in Gideon and Rebecca Pettit Wright Line. I have virtually no data. Bud in Mo. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2010 9:30 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WRIGHT] Richard Wright, Sr. and Richard Wright, Jr. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. The children at the bottom of the sheet is Micajah's. For Lynn - the rest of Micajah's family is - Amos Wright 1845 - 1932 Martha Jane Wright 1847 - 1946 Alfred Samuel Wright 1850 - 1938 Thomas Jefferson Wright 1852 - 1906 Julia Ann Wright 1857 - 1945 Mary Genetta Wright 1858 - 1951 Lina Wright 1858 - 1941 Flora Lee Wright 1864 - 1948 Sarah Wright 1867 - 1939 Micajah used a lot of family [siblings] names the names of Mary, Lina and Sarah were names of his sister's Ruth's and Mary Ann's children. Cathy and I just found each other and are related through Clayton Wright, as son of Richard, Sr. Since I've become aware of my Wright family, I believed that there may have been one or two children b. bef Clayton in 1808. Since his parents married after the 1800 census, it would make sense. Elizabeth is a family name and the timeframe would fit. Without the 1810 census showing this family in Rowan County, NC - it's impossible to tell how many children were in the household at the time. Richard - in all probability - still had children at home from his first marriage. At least for a while. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Regarding the probability that there were German Wrights who came to America, it is certainly possible that a Wright from England went to Germany in the way-back-when days, probably as a merchant rep., and never came home, thus setting up a family of Wright descendants in Germany who, after three or four generations, were as German as anyone else there. I do know there were Wrights who were born and raised in England in the 1600's who were involved in the woolen trade and made many trips to Flanders, Germany, Italy and France but I have never tried to track them to see if they all came home to die. I know for sure one of them didn't because he is my ancestor's brother, Nathaniel Wright. We can not find that he ever returned from his last overseas trip in about 1639. In fact, we can't figure out where he was headed, exactly. We know it was not New England or Barbados because those were not the ship's itinerary he embarked on, but somewhere in Europe where the ship made a number of stops in-route to Rome. There is no obvious reason he shouldn't have returned; he left a wife and 8 grown children behind in England, but he (and his eldest son) are the only ones missing from the family graveyard at Bishopgate. We found his eldest son buried at another parish church where that son was a rector, but no Nathaniel there either. ! He just disappeared over the sea and never returned with the ship. I know there are probably many other stories like that, but I have never given them very much thought until your husband's claims to be a Wright from Germany. It will be interesting indeed to see what the Y-DNA tells us. Take care and good luck. Mike Wright Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
