Wright. John W. Wright is my great, great, great grandfather. I am Carl "David" Wright Jr.; My father is Carl David Wright "C.D.", my grandfather is Samuel Masters Wright "Sam"; My great grand father is James Wright "Lee", My great great grand father is Samuel Thomas Wright; and my great, great, great grandfather is John W. Wright. I am descAended from the marriage of John and Ann J. McJunkin. I would like to know information about John's parents that came over with him and his brother Samuel and sister Ann. I understand the parents of John died of fever and are buried around Charleston S.C. My Great Uncle, Ishmael Wright recalls of the English estate settlement that cam I would also like to know of any information about John W. Wright's family in Liverpool before the departure around 1808. I have done some "basic" research on the Wright Name and oldest origin I can find of the name is that the Wright names comes from the border clans of Scotland and England. In the In 1603, according to the internet link -http://www.caitlinbinning.com/wrightname.htm; the border clans (including Wright's perhaps) were dispersed to England, northern Scotland and to Ireland. Some were banished directly to the Colonies. This came under the famous King James of Scotland who united the crowns of Scotland and England. I've also read somewhere where there were some Wright brothers who helped William Wallace. Course, I'm still looking for information about that predates John W. Wright. 3. Richard Wright, Sr. family members - hello. I'm receiving quite a few requests from Wright family members for information regarding the Arthur Parr Family Bible. In the interest of there being more family members who may want the information, this is what I found and posted on GenForum in 2009: PARR BIBLE RECORD This Bible was brought to Indiana by Arthur Parr, A soldier of the American Revolution, from North Carolina. It was in possession of his grandson, Henry C. Thompson, then to Henry C.'s granddaughter, Monta (Thompson) Hinds, Salem, Ind. who donated it to the Washington Co., Historical Society Library. It contains only the birth dates of the children of Arthur Parr, his [children] and his wife. BIRTHS: Arthur Parr, born July 5, 1758 Mary Parr, wife of Arthur, born Feb. 12, 1766 Children: Martha Parr, daughter of A. Parr, born Oct. 1783 Enoch Parr, son of A. Parr, born Dec. 7, 1785 Jemima Parr, daughter of A. Parr, born Oct. 8, 1787 David Parr, son of A. Parr, born Feb. 28 1789 Elizabeth Parr, daughter of A. Parr, born July 17, 1790 Susanna Parr, daughter of A. Parr, born Feb. 27, 1793 John Parr, son of A. Parr, born Feb. 12, 1795 Morgan Parr, son of A. Parr, born 1797 (youngest son) Mary Parr, daughter of A. Parr, born Oct. 1, 1803 in North Carolina. Additional Parr information on same sheet: Washington County, Indiana MARRIAGES. Court House, Salem, IN: - Mary (Polly) Parr married John Green on January 15, 1824, both of age, by Wm. Herron, J.P.W.C. Book A, page 108 - Polly Green (widow) married Cary Thompson, both of age, on Nov. 8, 1829 by James McCoy. Marriage Book B, p. 21, Wash. Co., Inc. Franklin Cemetery, Washington County, Indiana: - John Green, died 1828, age 25 years. His grave lies next to those of Arthur Parr, the Rev. War Soldier and his wife Mary Parr. - Cary Thompson, b. Sept. 15, 1797; d. Oct. 12, 1876, age 79 yrs, 27 days - Mary Thompson, wife of Cary, b. Oct 1, 1803; d. May 15, 1862, age 58 yrs, 7 months, 14 days - Arthur Parr, died March 21, 1833, aged 75 years - Mary, wife of Arthur Parr, died January 1837, aged 71 years. Early History of Washington Co., Indiana - By Forrest W. Faria 1931. Some brief notes taken from the Biographical Sketches: Arthur Parr was b. in Guilford Co., N.C. July 5, 1758 [My note: This is likely in error because Guilford County was not created until 1770 from Rowan and Orange counties, so Arthur Parr could not have been born there, although he could have been born in that part of Rowan County that later became Guilford.] He lived there till he was 10 or 12 years of age. Moved with mother and step-father to S. Carolina. Remained there until he entered Rev. War March 1, 1776. After the War, he settled in N. Carolina near the home of James Morgan and later married his daughter Mary on Feb. 22, 1782. They lived together for over 50 years and had 9 children. He and his wife came to Indiana Territory and settled in Washington County in 1809. He died on the place where he lived and first settled. His wife died a few years later at the home of her son Morgan Parr in Clark Co., Indiana.
