    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rngrant Surnames: WRIGHT Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/16620.9/mb.ashx Message Board Post: To Lakesky2: As a further follow up on your query, some interesting additional pieces of information has come to light. In examining the West Virginia marriage register listing the marriage of William Lewis Wright and Rosa Nelli Conley on March 6, 1915, in Mercer County, there is entered under Remarks the following: "March 2 - 1915 white Div & sing" This indicates that William Lewis Wright had been married and divorced before 1915. As set forth in the prior postings, the 1880 Census for Pulaski County, Virginia, listed William Lewis Wright, age 13, in the William F. Wright household. Virginia Marriages, 1851-1929 lists the marriage of William L. Wright and F. E. Ellis on September 18, 1888, in Pulaski County, Virginia: "Virginia Marriages, 1851-1929 Name: William L. Wright Spouse: F. H. Ellis Marriage Date: 18 Sep 1888 County: Pulaski State: VA" The actual marriage license may identify the parents of this William L. Wright, which would confirm that he was the son of William F. Wright. The 1900 Census for Pulaski County, VA, listed William Wright with the following household: William Wright, born Feb 1876, age 34, M12, born VA, occupation carpenter, Fanny Wright, born Jan 1869, age 31, M12, 5 children, 4 living, born VA, Birtie Wright, born Apr 1889 in VA, Ellis Wright, born Mar 1893 in VA, Edna Wright, born Dec 1896 in VA, Margaret Wright, born May 1899 in VA. Although the birth date for William was listed as 1876, the age of 34 indicates it should have been listed as 1866. That is the same birth date as William Lewis Wright. His occupation as carpenter is also the same as William F. Wright's occupation. In conjunction with the marriage record, this appears to identify the first family of your great grandfather 1937 (year of death) William Lewis Wright of Mercer County, W VA (place of death). The 1910 Census for Pulaski County, VA, also listed William L. Wright with wife Fannie and one additional child Charles, age 5. The 1920 Census for Mercer County, W VA, listed Joseph Bennett with wife Edna, age 23, and brother-in-law Charles, age 15, and sister-in-law Francis, age 9. These would seem clearly to be three children of William Lewis Wright by his first wife Fanny, the last born in 1911 after the 1910 Census. This is confirmed by the marriage record of Joe Bennett and Edna Wright dated Nov 6, 1913, in Mercer County, W VA, which listed her place of birth as Pulaski County, VA. Given the marriage of Edna Wright in 1913 in Mercer County, W VA, and the presence of the children of William Lewis Wright's first marriage in 1920 in Mercer County, W VA, the divorce records of William Lewis Wright and Frances "Fanny" (Ellis) Wright may be found in the Mercer County, W VA, records. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: elhura Surnames: WRIGHT - LYNCH - STEPHENS - STALLINGS - BRIZENDENE - LYLES Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/8496.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This is in reply to Joy Powell's post of May 2004 concerning Ida who married Tom Wright and lived in Matagorda County, Texas. Ida was also a known relative of Minnie Leota Stephens who married B.B. Wright. Recent information has enabled me to locate Ida Rebecca (Lynch) Wright's transcribed death cert that gives her father as Duke Lynch. As it turns out, Duke Winsor Lynch (1839-1923) was the son of William Lynch (1809-1890) and first wife, Elizabeth Stallings (1811-1860). Duke Winsor married Mary Frances Lyles (1840-1907). A daughter was Ida Rebecca Lynch (1877-1970) who married Thomas Evans "Tom" Wright (1872-1945). Another daughter - a sister of Ida - was Susannah "Anna" Lynch who married Joe Stephens. A daughter of Anna and Joe was Minnie Leota Stephens who married Benjamin Buel Wright. After Elizabeth Stallings' death in 1860, William Lynch married again. His second wife was Emaline Brizendene (1836-1909). A daughter born to this marriage was Martha Matilda "Tilde" Lynch (1871-1952). Tilde married Pleasant Edward Wright (1867-1938). Pleasant Edward Wright and Thomas Evans Wright were brothers - sons of John W. Wright (1804 Eng - 1891 Clay County, AL) and Frances Emaline Parker Wright (1835 GA -1936 AL). Although living in the same area, these Wrights are not known by me to be relatives (at least close) of the family of B.B. Wright. There were some later marriage connections between the families. All this would make Ida Rebecca Lynch Wright and Susannah "Anna" Lynch Stephens sisters. Ida and Anna would have been nieces of Martha Matilda "Tilde" Lynch Wright who was their father's half-sister. Aunt Tilde and niece Ida married brothers (Ed and Tom Wright), also making them sisters-in-law. Duke Winsor Lynch and several married children, including Ida and Tom Wright and Anna and Joe Stephens, migrated from Alabama to Texas between 1900-1910. Ed and Tilde Wright - as did a number of Ed's and Tom's siblings - remained in Alabama. Thanks for your leads in your early post. It has been interesting to finally piece this together. Please let me know if you discover any corrections that should be made. Elhura "Ellie" Smith Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rngrant Surnames: WRIGHT Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wright/16620.8/mb.ashx Message Board Post: To Lakesky2: One more piece of evidence has shown up. Attached below is a copy of a posting by Annemarie on the Augusta County, VA, message board dated Jan 6, 2001, which states that the Joseph Wright who married Polly Thompson was the son of Joseph Wright who married Ruth (possibly Evans) Wright and who died in 1826 in Augusta County, VA. This would be consistent with the Joseph Wright, Sr., and Joseph Wright, Jr., listed in the 1810 Augusta County, VA, Census mentioned in my prior posting to you on this line. If this information is correct, and it appears that it can be checked through Augusta County W.B. 15/424, then your line of descent would be as follows: 1. 1826 (year of death) Joseph Wright of Augusta County, VA, (place of death) and Ruth (possibly Evans) Wright, 2. Joseph Wright and Mary "Polly" (Thompson) Wright, 3. James A. Wright (Floyd County, VA) and Elizabeth (_____) Wright, 4. William F. Wright and Sarah Catherine (Garrett) Wright, 5. 1937 William Lewis Wright of Mercer County, WVA, and Rosa/Rosie Nellie (Conley) Wright, and 6. Richard Lewis Wright and Anna (Jianniney) Wright.
