    1. Re: [WORLD WAR II] U.S. Army - Training for Engineers -Carnegie Institute of ...
    2. Hi Ellis: I'm going to contact Carnegie Mellon just on the off chance that they have an archives librarian and one who, since it's been such a long time, will not be a stickler on rules since I'm not a member of his immediate family. Pete and his wife had no children and she died over 20 years ago, before he even retired. I have a few pictures of him from his time in service and I'm hoping that when the librarian in Aurora sends me the picture and info that she has I will have a bit more information so when I finally request his records from the Army I can at least give a few definite dates. I won't have his service number but I will have his social security number plus portions of his service information. If I send them a copy of his picture from his service days do you think that would help? I haven't seen the one from the library as yet but it must have been taken by the army since it stated that he was in Company C of the 320th Engineers. So no mules or donkeys while you were training! I wonder where that would have been. You know I tried to get him to write all of it out. He just kept telling me that it would take too long. Thanks for all of your assistance and suggestions. I appreciate the time and effort it took to do this. Adrienne P.S.: Pete and his wife lived in Gettysburg while he was working for yet another mining corporation. He mentioned that they rented a very old home, originally a farm home with something like 6 fireplaces. He said it was a very cold place to live! One of his friends told him that it had been featured in a newspaper or magazine because of its historical significance. I believe he said something about President Truman living near the Gettysburg cemetery? Sorry, I'm rambling.
