Is there a record or records somewhere giving arrival dates of U.S. troops in England, Liverpool to be exact, sometime around August 12-16, 1944? Also, would anyone know to which camps these troops were assigned. I was told that after arriving in Liverpool troops were placed on trains and my friend was sent to a camp south of London, somewhere in the countryside. He didn't give me the name but said there was a large estate located nearby with a wall around it. Where would I begin research to find out which towns or areas had U.S. troops encamped nearby?
