I hesitate to get in the middle of this, but this is hitting home with me. I have had the experience in the past in which folks are submitting information and then I discover that it is all coming from the same source, directly or indirectly. That particular source really doesn't provide any evidence or sources or documents of links to confirm the data. I hate to have that experience repeated on this site. My mom had 4 brothers (last name Smith) in WWII. I have access to some photographs. Some relatives (aunts, cousins, my parents) state that two were in prisoner of war camps. One, for 2 1/2 years. I am just starting this research and I am so hoping that I can get some information that I know is credible. At this point, I really need some 'official' documents, whatever they may be. Currently, I am reading all the emails on this list and others, not necessarily because of the individuals that the member is asking about, but because of the source links. I have found most of the sources that I need (books, websites, rosters, govt addresses, etc.) about my ancestors by accessing the links included in emails that have a subject line that does not include the name of the persons that I am researching. For the person with the 20 years experience, what a blessing to be on the same list as you. My uncles are gone. I have lost the opportunity to get information from someone who actually served, so I would really value your contribution to this list. I do not doubt the credibility of your information, but if the member does not cite the sources, then I will have to do the research again just to site the sources. If your source is personal experience, that is great and I will gladly accept that. In fact, I would really value that information. I regret terribly that I did not talk with my uncles personally about their experiences while they were alive. My family was one that did not talk about important things. (that's another story) I hope that this email came across as kindly as I intended it to. I hope it was not too long. If I was out-of-line, please let me know. If the person asking the question wishes to know my sources, then I am happy to provide them based on my 20 years of military research experience However, recently it seems that you are demanding sources in regards to questions neither asked by you or answers directed to you. I find your comments to be entirely off topic and unnecessary. Back to the questions, for which this forum exists.
