This question is somewhat "off topic" as it pertains to 1949. I have a letter with the return address of Co A 7811 SCU, APO 757. I know the APO was Frankfurt, Germany, but can anyone tell me how to find out what the "7811 SCU" was for? Thanks for any help. Nancy Coan

are you sure it is 7811 and not 6811? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy" <fishin@outdrs.net> To: <WORLDWAR2-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 13, 2006 10:38 PM Subject: [WORLD WAR II] US Army unit identification > This question is somewhat "off topic" as it pertains to 1949. Hi, Yes, it's definitely 7811. Someone also suggested that the SCU could be Special Cases Unit. The reason for my curiosity is that my Dad was a Criminal Investigator at Ft. Benning before going to Germany in 1949. In Frankfurt he was assigned to the VIP Motor Pool and I don't "get" why the drastic change in assignments. Any ideas? Thanks.
