    2. Published Sunday, July 16, 2006, Lakeland Ledger, Lakeland, Florida MERLE MILLER, 92 Project Manager LAKELAND -- Mr. Merle E. Miller of Lakeland died of complications from Parkinson's disease Thursday (July 13, 2006) at home. He was 92. Born in Corry, Pa., on Feb. 5, 1914, he lived in Bradenton before coming to Lakeland. He was past president of the Indiana Professional Engineer's Society for 10 years and project manager for buildings such as the Notre Dame Athletic and Convention Center in Notre Dame, Ind. He later worked as a security officer and civilian adviser for the building of the Holy Cross Cathedral in Palmetto. Mr. Miller graduated from Purdue University and was a member of TKE fraternity. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Army and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Hurtgen Forest, Normandy, the Rhineland, northern France and Central Europe. He received several medals, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Scottish Rite, a 32 degree F & AM, and a life member of the DAV. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Zoe Alice Miller. He is survived by his daughters, Christine Miller Waters, Lakeland, Diane Malmborg, Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DAV, American Legion or VFW. Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale.
