Corpsof Engineers is a Branch of Service just like Infantry, Artillery, Quartermaster Corps, Signal Corps, Ordnance, Reconnaissance, Band, Military Police etc. He was assigned to an Engineer Battalion, ergo his Branch of Service in Engineer.
