    3. My father-in-law, Richard E. Reeder age 79, passed away 6-16-06 in Jackson, Mi.. He was Born in Dayton, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He served his Country from Sept. 1943-1946. Serial # 723 51 40, Division "D", Rate S1. He might not of been able to remember what his grandkids names were or where he put things, but he sure could recall his Navy days and dates. He was a merchant marine. He took his training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lks., Ill.and Camp Elliot of Can Diego, Cali.. He was on the USS Braxton (APA 138) and Montgomery County (LST 1041). Richard was gaurd over John Paul Jones Crypt. The later part he was in the Pacific Ocean on many of the Islands. He was a fighter to the end! He'll be missed from everyone that met him.     3. You are so elegant in your expressions! My dad died in December 2004 and what you said here could apply to him except he was Army Air Force. He ended up being a lifer (30 years). I remember feeling so proud of him when he was in uniform. Thanks for sharing. My condolences to you and your family. I felt such a great loss for about 6 months after my dad died. Time does help. My siblings and I still miss him, though. Take every opportunity you can to talk to people about the endearing, funny, warm, etc. things your dad did.
