These people at this link will get your request going as soon as possible. Please note: They are very serious about protecting the servicemember's privacy and will require signatures from your father (if he's still living), photo ID's and documentation that you are, indeed, next-of-kin to the servicemember. They went out of their way to help me in the search for my Father-In-Law's records and called me and my husband a lot which helped tremendously to weed through what was actually needed. Also, please keep in mind that every request for a servicemember's record is suspicious in wake of the 9/11 attacks and the current war situation. But they will work with you any way they can to get you what you need after proof of your identity and your relationship has been established.
