Disko, Joe DISKO, JOE, age 79, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006. Joe was born in Niles, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He played football and graduated from the University of Alabama. Because of Joe, all three of his children played soccer. He was known in the soccer community for being an avid fan of his children and the sport they played, rarely missing a practice or game whether it was local or hundreds of miles away. He is survived by his wife, Martha of Birmingham, AL; children, Michael, Jeffrey, and Amy of Birmingham, AL; son, Jordan Disko (Debra) of Beaverton, OR; sisters, Irma Sequeglia of Niles, OH and Mary Benyei of Warren, OH; and brother, Leslie Disko, formerly of San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and John Disko, and brothers, John, Michael and George Disko. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Hwy. 119. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Southern Heritage Chapel with Jim Clifford of Valley Christian Church officiating.
