Carnes, Donald J. CARNES, DONALD J., 78, of Trussville, died of a sudden illness on Saturday, July 15, 2006. He was born in Muncie, Indiana and attended school in Huntington, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 through 1948, and later served in the Korean conflict from 1950-1952. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, of 29 years, four children, Pamela O'Bert (Ken) of Massachusetts, Donald Carnes, Jr. (Patti) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mark Carnes (Cathy) of Huntington, Indiana and Kevin Carnes (Susan) of Nashville, Tennessee, his stepchildren Dianne Warner (Jan) of Connecticut and Dwight Percy (Teresa) of Birmingham. Other survivors include his 12 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved sports, particularly golf, Notre Dame football and basketball. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Thursday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception for friends and family afterward.
