Hi, Hope someone can help me with this. My Grandfather (Fred Wilson) was killed on 13th April 1940 aged 35 & is buried in the LE GRAND-LUCE WAR CEMETERY (france), he was a L/Cpl in the Corps of Military Police. Can anyone help me with any information on the circumstances of his death as I can't find any information on attacks in that area at the time, the Cemetary lists a few others that were killed around that time although not all from the same regiments. Just wanted to know if anyone knows what was going on in that area at the time Many thanks, David
Greetings, Suggest this could be the start of the German push to roll all allied troops out of Europe, leading to the great evacuation from Dunkirk etc. Peter Freemanboats wrote: >Hi, > >Hope someone can help me with this. > >My Grandfather (Fred Wilson) was killed on 13th April 1940 aged 35 & is >buried in the LE GRAND-LUCE WAR CEMETERY (france), he was a L/Cpl in the >Corps of Military Police. >Can anyone help me with any information on the circumstances of his death as >I can't find any information on attacks in that area at the time, the >Cemetary lists a few others that were killed around that time although not >all from the same regiments. The German assault on the Netherlands, Belgium and France did not happen until 10th May 1940. La Grand Luce is near Le Man which was on the line of communication and his death is more likely to have been a traffic accident, or medical condition.
