    3. Jessie, Apropos of your last, we in Australia seem to be lucky, or blessed, with archivists who have retained service records from both WW1 & WW2. Our War Museum & National Archives have and still do a wonderful job in that respect. It seems that the lack of computers has helped our cause. I have photo copies of service records of family members in both wars - from Attestation (at the entry to the service), to Service and Casualty, then Demobilization forms, (including in S & C forms the handwritten originals plus the later typed confirmation copies) . Interestingly the forms and procedures are identical for both wars. The financial records are different - I don't know that they were kept, each serviceman had a pay-book where records were maintained. Regards, from Sydney, Dave - I suspect an even more ancient, failed, computer programmer from Fortran 4 days. Please, always tell the list what country your ancestor is from. This helps all of us, especially you! If you give dates please help us understand the date you are referring to. For example: 4 Nov 1944 or Nov 4, 1944. > > ============================== > View and search Historical Newspapers. Read about your ancestors, find > marriage announcements and more.
