Most of the information I have on Thomas Box Wooten relates to his marriage to Mary Singletary. I have been given some research with information about his marriage to Sarah Lucy Oliver. Still don't have proof about the marriage to Margaret McLeod. Thomas Box Wooten was single in the 1850 census, so that marriage didn't last long. Thomas does not appear in the 1860 census, so we presume he died between 1850 and 1860. Some researchers also say there was a daughter of Thomas Box Wooten's first marriage. The daughter was possibly Sarah Oliver Wooten or Sarah Jane Wooten. Belinda Hughes, who has put together that wonderful web page on the Wootens, is a descendent of Sarah Oliver Wooten. However, the birthdate that Belinda has for Sarah Oliver Wooten is 20 years AFTER her alleged mother DIED! If anyone can provide us proof of this daughter, we'd love to have it! In Richard C. Wooton's book, "John Wooten, Sr of Pitt County, NC and his sons" he states that TBW was born in Pitt Co, but our independent research shows that he was born in Dobbs County. TBW at one time worked as a boat pilot on the Cape Fear River. TBW was the son of Shadrach Wooten and Elizabeth Allen. Who were the parents of Mary Singletary? If anyone has more information to share, I'd love to have it. Jennifer Bell [email protected]
