    3. Hello fellow researchers, Does anyone have a Malinda WOOTEN, b. 10 May 1804 d. 24 Oct 1883, who married possibly William T. HAYNES and resided in Iredell, Surry and Yadkin counties N.C.??? I am brand new to this list having just found a possible connection to the WOOTEN surname. Someone on another list told us that on old deeds, the names of witnesses in the lower left corner could be a great lead. The first name listed is supposedly a member usually of the man's family and the second was usually a member of the woman's family. This protected her interest in the property. Which brings me to WOOTEN. I just received a deed record for W. T. HAYNES, which I think is my William T. HAYNES, transferring 100 acres in Iredell N.C. to Thomas HAYNES in 1840. It is witnessed by a Thomas HAYNES and Thomas WOOTEN. I have my ggg-grand parents William T. and Malinda HAYNES on census records for Iredell, Surry and Yadkin counties N.C. in the years 1840 thru 1870. Malinda would have been born 10 May 1804 according to her cemetery marker in Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Iredell county. William T. died in 1880 and Malinda died in 1883. Any help would be greatly appreciated Peggy Haynes Loar [email protected]
