I am a recent subscriber to the list and would like to solicite any information on the following: Mary Wootan married Benjamin Hood about Feb. 1807. She was born about 1794 in Fairfield Co. SC. Benjamin was born abt 1792 in Orangeburg Co., SC. They had 9 children. Her father was Matthew Wootan, born about 1775 in Georgia. He died July 19, 1852 in Fairfield Co., SC. Her brother was Matthew Wootan born about 1823 in Fairfield Co. SC. I would gladly exchange information on this family. A matter concerning vacant land settled by David Milling in the 1700's which he obtained a title on Jan. 7, 1788. He was suing to try the title. The land was discovered vacant by Lewis Perry in 1784 and he applied to John Milling, a surveyor to survey it for the purpose of procuring a grant. His widow was Sarah Milling and his children were Margaret Milling, Jane Milling, John Milling, and Sarah Milling.
