My two earliest known WOOTEN ancestors are my g4grfather: WOOTTON, Simon, Born ??? 1750 in Halifax Co?, VA, Died ??? in Buckingham Co?, VA; WARFA: appears in Chesterfield Co VA tax lists 1756 and Buckingham Co VA tax lists in mid 1780s. A Simon WOOTON/WOOLTON/WOOTTEN received a Bounty Land Warrant for service in the War of 1812; his widow, Mary W., received a pension (Bockstruck's Colonial VA Soldiers). SP UNKNOWN, Mary And their son, my g3grfather: 1 WOOTEN, Joseph W., Born 9 Nov 1776 in Buckingham Co? VA, Died 20 Jul 1842 in Mt Hermon KY at age 65; buried in Wooten Family Cemetery west of Barren Co home. "Gentleman farmer" and physician [WaRFA Quarterly Vol II, 2, June 1982]. "...born and reared in Virginia, he was bound to a Mr. Bagbey (Bagby) who brought him to Barren Co., KY, about 1800. He became an extensive farmer and owned some 3,000 or 4,000 acres of land, and was also a large slave holder. Warren County (SGorin), in the biography of his grandson, Junius, son of Sylvanus B.> SP WILSON, Sarah, Born 18 Dec 1790 in Franklin Co VA, Married 25 Dec 1805 in Franklin Co, VA for 36 years, Died 12 Apr 1857 in Mt. Hermon KY at age 66; surety by Ezra Wilson; buried in Wooten Family Cemetery with Joseph I have yet to be able to find out any more information about Simon and his wife, including any other issue.
