Hi Betty I'm not sure how closely the original 1880 census follows the computerized version; I have found several 'fuzzy' entries (i.e. slightly incorrect compared to external more reliable (I think) data) in the online census. But it is wonderful to have and has filled in a number of missing links and leads on which I will now have to find time to follow through. Arcane trivia: The 49er Woottens derive from a Wootten-Waters marriage though I am not aware of any of these Woottens moving South; they tended to move from Delaware through Ohio and Indiana finally to California and Modesto and Stanislaus County. At last contact, the family was in New Zealand, Korea and Wisconsin. person: Nancy WATERS (D'Audney) x x born: 1797, Delaware x died: 1865, Colorado. x x father: Samuel WATERS (3962) x x mother: x x spouse: William WOOTTEN, cb. 1817, Delaware. (1461) According to family lore, she accompanied the family west in her rocking chair bolted to the wagon. In Colorado, hearing that one of her sons was living nearby, she decided to take the wagon to visit him. Alas, the horses became spooked and the wagon rolled over, killing this estimable pioneer lady.
