    3. Bebe, that is extremely interesting. I have just adopted the spelling of Penix from about a dozen different suggestions of what my Silas'a middle name might have been. So it could just as easily have been Pennix. I think that my Silas Penix Wooten had enlisted in the army in Halifax County, Virginia and had just sort of concluded that he was from there because of that. He moved to Guilford County, NC because of his military service--he was in the battle there. Then he married a girl from there and stayed until they moved their family to Kentucky because of land that was granted to him for his military service. His wife's lineage is so interesting that I have been sidetracked from looking any further into Silas's ancestry. You have given me some thoughts and sparked my interest.
