Then seemingly unrelated entry: "Ordered that Bryant Wooten enter into bond for $400 for the maintenance of a bastard male child begotten on the body of Tela Casteen and for idemnifying the parish, etc., with Samuel James and Benjamin Rochelle as securities, and that he pay unto the hands of Tela Casteen, the mother of said bastard child, 20 pounds annually for three years". I have Pitt Co., N.C. Wooten blood, and 1700s Wilmington, N.C., James family blood via Joshua James, Sr's father.
